Getting the best out of your new rug

Bathe horse in a soothing shampoo. Apply a good sweet itch cream to base of tail, withers and any previously known itchy areas.

Cover fully with the sweet itch rug. These sweet itch rugs give great coverage but for any remaining uncovered areas a spray with fly spray will help.

Make sure there are no rough areas of the field/stable to rub on and fence off any barbed wire or trees that can rip the rug.

The rug can be washed in a normal washing machine at 30 degrees with detergent. It will dry quickly once hung out.

It is good to apply lotion to itchy areas every time the rug is about to be put back on.

When washing or storing, please make sure any velcro is all fastened together. If left open, the velcro can attach to the  fabric of the rug and cause pulls.

It’s a good idea to have 2 so your horse is not left uncovered when one is in the wash.
